Dr. You Xinhua, Deputy Chief Engineer of China Building Technology Center, was invited to attend the 16th International Conference of Joint Urban Underground Space Research Center (ACUUS)

On November 5-7,2018, sixteen sessions of the International Conference of the Joint Urban Underground Space Research Center ACUUS were held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, more than 300 scholars from more than a dozen countries around the world engaged in underground space investment, planning, design, operation and other aspects of research attended the conference, China Building Technology Center Deputy Chief Engineer Dr. you Xinhua was invited to attend. The theme of the conference was: integration of underground spaces in densely populated modern cities. The conference invited internationally renowned experts, scholars and decision makers from around the world as guest speakers to share their experiences in developing underground spaces in different cities and to demonstrate the flexible and efficient use of underground space resources, to provide effective and integrated solutions to the diverse challenges of urban development and the challenges posed by extreme weather in recent years to make modern cities more liveable, accessible and safe. There will be 3 invited presentations, 8 thematic presentations and 72 sub-forum presentations at the main venue of the conference. The keynote speakers were from the Chinese mainland, the United States, France, Singapore, Hong Kong and Finland. Qian Qihu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, first gave a special presentation on Future Urban Underground Infrastructure Construction In China, and Dr. you Xinhua, Deputy Chief Engineer of the China Construction Technology Center, gave a keynote presentation on Experiences and Lessons of Urban Comprehensive Pipe Gallery Construction In China. Academician Qian Qihu and Dr. you Xinhua were the only two representatives from the Chinese mainland from the 11 special invitations and thematic reports of the conference. As the only international academic organization dedicated to the study, exchange and cooperation of the world's underground space, the International Joint Research Center for Underground Space (ACUUS) , the aim is to promote the development of underground space in countries, regions and cities all over the world, and to promote the support and investment of governments at all levels in different countries and regions in underground space development. The Institute holds an international academic conference on underground space every 2-3 years. To date, 16 sessions have been held, of which four have been held in China. Dr. You Xinhua, Deputy Chief Engineer of the China Building Technology Center, was invited to attend the 16th acus international conference and gave a keynote speech, representing that the China Building Technology Center has gradually been in line with international practice, the international influence of Chinese architecture in underground space is growing.
